Punta Mita is a 2.3 square-mile resort at the top of the bay, an hour from the airport. It wraps around the (unrelated) town of Punta de Mita.
Anchored by a Four Seasons and a Jack Nicklaus golf course, Punta Mita has become a renowned destination. Bill Gates and a long list of celebrities are regulars. A St. Regis hotel, Mii Amo spa, and a second Nicklaus course are new additions.
Punta Mita also has residential developments whose owners get access to rarefied amenities.
The beach, views, and terrain are stunning. Our only word of caution is that it's an insulated world up here. You'll have to work to overcome the temptation to never leave.
