Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos is "what Cancun used to be" - a laid back fishing village with no high rises in sight. The town has the advantage of being located within a national park, with strict laws restricting density and height for new constructions. The original old town is still intact, including a central artisan market and a nearby non-motorized beach where the closeness of the outer reef creates a veritable infinity pool along the shore.

Located halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos has a strong locals community that takes pride in the fact that neighbors still say hello to one another.

Due to building restrictions, prices have soared in the old town with most new investment opportunities arising north and south and in the inland jungle region.
