Profile

The Venetian is at the mouth of the Pitillal River in Puerto Vallarta´s Hotel Zone.

With its own beach and beach club, four pools, fitness center, spa, tennis courts, three holes of golf, and scores of one-bedroom units, the Venetian feels like a big resort hotel. When you’re not around, you should have little trouble renting your unit as a hotel room.

The main draws are the amenities, a central location, and, from the upper floors, terrific views of the bay and town.

Pros

- Central location, convenient for shopping and day-to-day activities: Wal-Mart, movies, dining, the marina and downtown Puerto Vallarta
- It has commanding views of the whole bay.
- All the amenities of a large development
- One of the few developments that offers small apartments

Cons

- Big and impersonal, like living at a hotel
- The Venetian motif (and name) gives the place an ersatz Vegas vibe
